Robert Hurley, Ph.D.

Executive Director, Consortium for Trustworthy Organizations


Dr. Hurley is a Professor at Fordham University and has been recognized by the student body for his excellence in teaching with the Gladys and Henry Crown Award for faculty excellence. Dr. Hurley is considered an expert on how to build and repair trust with people, groups, organizations and large-scale systems. His work on trust has appeared in the Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, The Wall Street Journal, and the Financial Times. Roderick Kramer (Stanford) suggested that Dr. Hurley’s book The Decision to Trust is the book to read on how leaders can manage to create high trust organizations. Bill George (Harvard and former CEO of Medtronic) called the book brilliant and remarkable. The book won the Alpha Sigma Nu national book award and was named one of the best leadership books of 2011 by the Washington Post. Dr. Hurley’s research on trust is widely cited and has been translated for use around the world. He has written two book chapters on trust in the financial system (Oxford University Press and Edward Elgar). In total Dr. Hurley has published over 30 articles and book chapters.


In addition to teaching graduate and undergraduate students at Fordham, Dr. Hurley has taught executives for 25 years. He has been a core faculty member in Columbia Business School's High Impact Leadership Program for the past 25 years where he consistently is rated as a top faculty member. For three years Dr. Hurley was one of the most sought after executive education faculty at Duke Corporate Education helping to design and lead programs for BAE Systems, Merck, Home Depot, and The Nature Conservancy. Earlier in his career he was a Product Manager at Kraft Foods. He began his career as a CPA working for Ernst and Whinney and Arthur Andersen where he consulted with large- and medium-sized companies in the financial area.


Dr. Hurley's consulting experience has included work on innovation with NASA and managing change and executive development with Avon Products, First Tennessee Bank, IBM, Merrill Lynch, Citibank, Kraft Foods, Kinkos, Mercedes Benz, Sheetz Convenience Stores and State Farm Insurance. His teaching and consulting has included work in India, United Kingdom, Poland, Portugal, Italy, Japan, China, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Australia, France, and the United States.


Dr. Hurley has a B.S. from Fordham University and M.B.A. from the Wharton School. While at Wharton he served as a Senior Consultant at the Wharton Entrepreneurial Center. Dr. Hurley received his doctorate from Columbia University.




Patricia Voorhees

Director, Consortium for Trustworthy Organizations

Principal, Movo Group

Patricia is Director of Fordham University Business School’s Consortium for Trustworthy Organizations and Founding Principal of Movo Group, a business development, and commercial real estate consultancy. 


Patricia has over 25 years of experience in commercial finance, business development, mergers and acquisitions, strategic pricing, sales and marketing.  She most recently served as Strategic Pricing Leader at GE Capital Americas where she led a team focused on capital optimization across 10 businesses totaling $100 billion in assets. Prior to that role Patricia served as General Manager of Office Imaging Finance at GE Capital where she led a successful restructuring of the business. She has over ten years of experience in business development, having served as Managing Director of Business and of Mergers and Acquisitions where she managed 14 transactions closing $10 billion in acquisitions. Patricia began her career at IBM where she was a systems engineer prior to moving into sales and client management roles.


Patricia holds a B.A. in economics from Western Connecticut State University and M.A. degrees from Fordham University in Ethics and Society and in Education for Peace and Social Justice. She is a board director at The Bridge to Independence and Career Opportunities, a Danbury, Connecticut based NGO where she chairs the development committee.


Mary Adams
CMP, President Event Consulting Group

Mary is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with more than 15 years experience in the conference, meeting planning and events business. She runs a conference management company, Event Consulting Group and is the Executive Director for the Bergen County Professional Women's Network. Mary is frequently invited to speak on the topics of meeting planning, entrepreneurship and women in business.

Prior to launching ECG, Mary worked for Merck & Co. as a professional sales representative in the cardiovascular, neuroscience and orthopedic markets. She came to Merck & Co. after helping to establish the Life Sciences division of Worldwide Business Research, a conference company in New York City, where she produced conferences on drug discovery and online retail. Before moving to New York, Mary worked in marketing with the president of an automotive engineering company in Cleveland, Ohio. While there, she produced one-on-one sales meetings, spearheaded the company's brand identity campaign, and managed all marketing and sales support initiatives.

Mary graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She earned her Masters in Business Administration from Fordham University in New York, where she graduated with Beta Gamma Sigma, American Marketing Association and Phi Kappa Phi honors.


Thy Nguyen-Huu
Creative Communications
Consortium for Trustworthy Organizations, Fordham University

Thy is responsible for creative communication at the Consortium for Trustworthy Organizations. Prior to her graduate study, Thy was a graphic designer at Lippincott, responsible for developing and implementing various phases of design projects using knowledge of strategy, marketing and consumer awareness for leading companies in banking, insurance, retail, consulting, and hospitality industries. Her work has been featured in Society for Environmental Graphic Design, Society of Publications Designers, and Identity (Branding and Design Journal). Thy has a B.F.A. in Communication Design from Fashion Institute of Technology and M.B.A. from Fordham University.
